GULFPORT — Former Biloxi school teacher Rebecca Dawn Bogard was sentenced today to seven years for the statutory rape of a 15-year-old boy.
Circuit Court Judge Roger Clark suspended six years, leaving one year to serve in its entirety.
Bogard, 28, was a science teacher at the Center for New Opportunities - the Biloxi School District’s alternative school - when Biloxi police arrested her in 2008. Investigators said at the time the alleged sexual activity did not occur on a school campus but involved the use of a cell phone that Bogard bought the teenager.
